Best coral dip?

I was wondering what people's favourite coral dips are? I was planning to to a 2 dip step with the first dip being red sea DipX and then seachem iodine. Wondering if this is a good idea?

Saw other people recommend potassium salts dips to (like reef primer). Wondering how this would compare to something like the red sea DipX or other similar dips? Is it worth doing both reef primer and DipX?

Also, I have seen a lot of people, especially for sps corals, just to cut the frag off to prevent pests and eggs too. Would this be possible for softies and LPS too? How would you remove softies from frag plug?

I've always used Coral RX. I have some Coral revive as well but rarely us it, but my go to is Coral RX.

All I've ever done for dips is seachem iodine for small stuff, Corals Rx for pests and the KFC dip for dire BJD issues. Really depends what you're trying to tackle. For helping out a stressed corals or help color come back with iodine I try and do more smaller dips than one big heavy iodine dip. For pests I usually just do Coral Rx and adjust my glass and get to work looking for the small stuff. Then if you have big big issues with diseases or bleaching then you can tailor a dip to fit your needs, like KFC with anti bacterias in it. That's the more complicated way to do it but usually just an idodine or Coral Rx are fine for me.

I like a 10% solution of 3% hydrogen peroxide for 10 minutes.

With respect to getting soft coral from a plug; try your fingernail.

I started using the KCL and am happy with it. This last round of corals, I dipped KCL at 2 TBS per gallon for 10 minutes and then moved to a Brightwell Koral MD bath at 20ml per 1/2 gallon for about 5 minutes. Then a quick dip/rinse in some saltwater and in they went. I dipped some easier corals, a Pavona, a Stylo, and an anacropora. They all put out polyps within an hour after adding them. Seemed very gentle?

I think the red sea DipX seems to be similar to the CoralRx, being an essential oil based dip

I was going to use the DipX (seems similar to CoralRx) to remove pests and then the seachem iodine to help with stress and any damaged tissue. Is this okay to use both (seperately)? Also could you explain what the KFC dip is, or did you mean KCl (potassium salt)?

Willow,
Hydrogen peroxide is a strong oxidizer. I have also used it in swimming pools maintenance. Makes the skin tingle.

Yes it will oxidize algae and devastate micro inverts like pods & ich. Coral biofilm protects it. However, pay attention to soak time.

I don’t keep sensitive corals and I don’t keep pharmaceuticals to treat corals at my home. I use a 10 minute soak in a 10% solution of 3% hydrogen peroxide.

Yes, I have iodine, but don’t use it as a coral antibacterial: I dose iodine as a trace mineral.
