I picked up a biocube 32 for $150 dollars. It is used but only for four months. The owner is into freshwater tanks and thought they would try saltwater. Unfortunately, they didn’t test, do water changes, etc and it crashed. They emptied it and put it in the closet. I would like to make it a dedicated anemone/Clown tank but am curious about the lights. Does anyone have experience with this tank?

Sadly the factory lighting isn’t enough for anemones IMO

You’re gonna mod it. Nice tank. Good lights. But so many upgrades. Better lights, like Steve’s LEDs. Return pump, like Innovative Marines new dc nano pump. Overall good blank slate

I've got one and it's great. The things you're going to need are :
Powerheads
InTank Media tower

Things you're going to want:
Better lights (Lloyd's idea of Steve's LED is probably the best option).
Skimmer

What skimmer did you get and can you post a picture of your media tower?

I purchased from Amazon, but you can get it now on sale at https://intankaquatics.com/coralife-led-biocube-32-media-basket/
The Skimmer I bought was the Coralife Biocube Skimmer.

How is the canister filter working? So many here say to not use one. I have power heads.

$150 for that is a complete steal!

Tons of options! This past weekend I just modded mine and put a Sicce 3.0 return pump in chamber 3! I would definitely recommend upgraded lighting on it!

Check out the AIO sub-forum, lots of people with these tanks.

Mine's a 29 gallon

I have the 29g version of this tank, the one without the LEDs. The tank was getting far too hot this summer it was pushing 82-83f. I ended up taking the lid off and buying a used Kessil A80 tuna blue. I’ve had it for a few months now and my corals have been growing very well, although I think it’s just barley enough light to keep them growing. My tank is full of LPS and soft corals.

I also highly recommend that intank media tower. Idk if you still have the bioballs but I removed all the bio balls. In the top of the media tower I have filter floss that sits on top of a sponge. I change the filter floss once a week and clean the sponge every 2 weeks. Below that I actually just have a few bio balls I haven’t moved them yet. And then in the bottom I have a mesh bag filled with ceramic filter media.

There should be a sponge that separates the 2nd and 3rd chamber. I keep that in there it will help keep sand and things from getting into your pump. I have a fine grain sand in my tank that clogs my sponge so I have to clean it bi weekly to keep the water levels the same in the last two chambers.

I got this tank used so all it has is pump and lights. But I wouldn’t have used bioballs anyway. I have ordered the intank media tower and a tunze 9001 skimmer. I also ordered the tunze nano ATO. Im Running that on my 60 cube and it is amazing. I’m waiting on changing the lights. I want to see what they’re like. Also hubby said “why did you get that? You’re gonna want to upgrade the lights and everything else.” I didn’t know what to say, cause he’s right and I didn’t want to hear him moaning.;) I need to get a new pump. Any suggestions? I also don’t have a stand. Hubby can build something or we’ll just go buy a pretty little cabinet to put it on. Hubby didn’t seem real keen on any projects. He has trouble with his neck and has been hurting a lot lately. What other improvements should I look at?
