Black Bugs

Recently lost all of my Acropora other than a cali tort and a smooth skin which seem to be doing fine. It is a young tank and I had some issues so I chalked it up to that. Cleaned the tank today and flipped over this tile to find these black bugs crawling all over the bottom. Are these acro-eating black bugs, and has anyone had success removing them entirely from the tank?

Looks like it. Interceptor should knock these ones out.

Definitely looks like black bugs. I would start over again if you don’t have any more corals in the tank now. Bleach all rocks and start again.

Hi hope all is well. Correction green slimer Long video but pretty much same so only need watch first minute or so to get the idea. Had this birds nest about 5 weeks now and after a week or so noticed the little black bugs at base of coral and same for few weeks after didnt see on actual...

Seems like I have them.maybe good idea if you can zoom in to see if eating the polyps like can In Mine,so far can't see no damage to my sps,but as you say new tank then maybe good to explain how your sps started to die like rtn or sin from tips or the base or if colour lost first ( just whatever you remember) as be certain markers/ clues what point to a certain problem whether it be flow/ light/ unstable parameters etc etc ( can't hurt to give more information anyway )
I'm in situation now do I want to do an intank treatment of interceptor or Dr g's solution as if I do and it eradicates them then that's great but then I will have to qt all future corals and provide enough flow/ light / stable parameters in a newly set up qt coral tank as I got alot more corals to buy yet as I'm also new tank at 9 months old but so far sps been in tank 5- 6 weeks and cant see no damage as of yet.

They could be black bugs. But you got to find them on your corals to be positive that they were the source of their demise. I think that red and black bugs are typically on the coral and stay on the coral. I'd be surprised to find them under a tile.

Don't nuke your tank before you verified that.

Also, Interceptor (a vet prescription drug) will eradicate them. Check this forum for more info.

Hi fellow reefers,

recently i lost 2 of my bigger tenuis and couldnt figure out why. My next 2 tenuis frags are losing color and have no PE, one of 'em was always on the "bushy" side..... (no pics from them taken)
I took some photos of somethig i consider as bugs, although these things are NOT moving and i normally would consider as polyps, but they def. were not black all the time....
I already did a Milbemycin-treatment 2 days ago. Should i repeat it? Thanks in advance...

I can't say that I see what would look like typical black/red bugs. Can you point to some suspicious cases? Bugs move around rather fast interspersed with long periods of immobility. They can also get into the polyps and then they are hard to see. Luckily interceptor should do the trick at the cost of wiping out your pod population (and shrimps if you have em). Not sure if you need multiple treatments.
