I've had my Midas for about a week now. He spent a day in a hole in my rockwork, then he spent a dark day hiding behind the filter, since then he's spent 5 days making a burrow under a rock. He has done precisely 0 swimming in open water. He's eating fine (x2 daily, 1 pellets, 1 mysis). Though I'm having to target feed him. I know they can need a lot of feeding but he's really not burning many calories!
The LFS said the Midas wouldn't come out until there were other fish in the tank (poss a line!).
I've now added X2 Clowns and he's no closer to getting out of bed.
He seems fine but should I be concerned?

I just got a tessellated blenny on friday. Tiny little thing that hides by the pump nozzle and in the macroalgae. Too scared to go out completely to grab food. I fed it this morning with a pipette but I never worry with blennies because they’ll probably just feed off the algae and biofilm in the tank.

I had a tailspot blenny that hid for the first week too. If it’s eating, that’s a good sign it’s healthy.

Midas blennys do not eat algae so I would be worried if it wasn’t eating any meaty food

He’s been hit by/stuck by… a smooth parasite…

J/k he looks fine from the pic, good coloration. If they’re stressed they’ll loose most of their yellow coloring… just need to give him some time to get comfortable - blennys are weird… you might try checking out the tank after lights have been out for a few hours with your phone flashlight. If you see him out in the dark (exploring new surroundings) that’s a good sign

He's much happier with some buddies in the tank now. Out and about feeding and swimming but never too far from his burrow.
Was worried the clowns would outcompete him for food but he's a mysis machine!
