Bubble coral growing, but skeleton isn't growing with it. Is that normal?

I have had this coral for years. It has grown 3 or 4 times what it was originally. It seems happy and healthy. Other than the fact that no matter how much flesh it grows, it never seems to grow any more skeleton. That part in the picture labeld "floating " is just drifting in the current. There is probably twice the amountof drifting flesh than what is in the picture. It seems happy and will eat. This flesh didn't come off of the skeleton, it was never attached to begin with. Like I said, it is growing and happy other than that for the 4 years that I've had it.so I don't know what to think.

Can't help other than to agree it is a bit different. I have a large one that has been in the tank for 6 years. That part I pointed to looks strange. Mine has nothing coming out from underneath. I guess like most coral they do what they want to do :thinking-face:

That is just one of the polyps floating around. It happened to be pointed that way when the picture was taken.
