Bubble & Hammer Coral not opening up like they used to (purchased Jan 10, 2018)
Bubble has been looking like this since April & Hammer started not fully extending soon after.
First two pics are how they have been looking from Jan to end of March & next two photos were taken today 4/19/18.
Powerheads are not blasting them with current. My alk did dip to 8.5 from its usual 9.3, but I gradually brought it back up
I don't see any fish nipping at them. I don't see any sweepers from the Favias hitting them.
My torch corals look great. Frogspawn Corals still look good, although the one that I
have had for a few months doesn't seem to open all the way ever since I placed another one near it (branching frogspawn).
Not sure if I have to crank my lights up more in the tank. PAR level by the Hammer is 90 PAR on the sandbed. Bubble coral is placed midway up on the rocks. PAR around 120
For the Hammer: Could it be that I need to move it up on the rocks or crank up my lights
more? I target feed my corals once or twice a week with a mix of Reef Roids/Reef Chili & sometimes some frozen brine/mysis & some P/E Calanus.

** Fish are all very healthy & have had no problems
Feed 1 full sheet of Nori every day (green & purple), feed frozen every evening & some dry foods. Soak all frozen
food in Selcon & use garlic 2-3 times per week. I broadcast feed my frozen food.

Puzzling - everything I'm reading in your description of the tank looks good ... but the corals are obviously in disagreement.

Any possibility that some small quantity of contaminant or toxin was introduced?

#reefsquad, any thoughts?

Try Coral Rx dip and then iodine dip, then place then in a really low to NO flow and feed. Hope they bounce back. I am having similar issues with one head of a torch and frog spawn. Went from fully open to how your bubble and hammer are. I am dipping them in Iodine and have been the last 2-3 days and placed them under a ledge with no flow. They seem to be doing better. Nothing wrong with trying that. Btw rest of the corals look great and a great looking tank!!!

Beside the cyano growing on the bubble coral, any other algae growing? Can you get a picture with white light? Also, do you have a LFS near by that can double check salinity?

Thanks I'll have to try the Iodine Dip. One of the heads looked like it had brown jelly so I cut it off and gave it a coral dip.

I haven't had any algae issues, although I do get a light white film on the glass that I have to go over with my magfloat once or twice a week. I believe it is from the NOPOX - which I have been dosing since July or August of 2017 (30mL/day) Nitrate is pretty steady at 4 ppm. I use a refactometer (which I calibrate) & have a salinity test probe on my apex.
