Hi Everyone,

First time doing a build thread, thought its about time to go all out and share my journey to the end goal. I've been in this hobby for some time now and have gone through the evolution of, trial and error, ups and downs, getting bigger tanks. I normally buy them second hand and reseal them myself to save thousands. But this time I really wanted to go all out and do a fresh new build that looks sleek and high end. I feel I have the confidence now to grow it out and hopefully cherish this one for some years to come. Every time I walk into my local fish store, they have this spectacular cade peninsula. My jew hits the ground, Its extremely hard to not stand and admire it's beauty. I love peninsula tanks personally. After slapping myself in the face, its time to get supplies! This carried on for months. Every time I go in to get supplies. I cant take it anymore, I reach out to the aquarium building gods themselves... Cade! How could I pass up on a Cade? not only a cade peninsula, but more of it! So enough about myself and lets talk about the build.

Aquarium:
Keeping with the theme of sleek, high end, luxury look of peninsula tanks. I decided to purchase a Cade Peninsula 2100. I'm currently building a new home, the plan is to get this setup and filled with water before the end of the year.

I will share some limited sketches to give everyone a chance to see what this tank is going to look like.

Lights:
I have also purchased the lights that will be lighting this tank. I decided to go for the Orphek natura icon. I must say Orphek customer support is amazing to deal with. I am really digging these lights!

Currently have 2 of these over my temp garage housing tank. Mind the mess, living conditions whilst building. The other 2 are in a box :)

I will either hang the lights from the ceiling or build a cantilever light mount style with some aluminium t-slot bars.

Wavemakers:
For the wavemakers I am going to go a combo of Sicce voyager 10s and Jebao mcp-180s. I am a big fan of the Jebaos they push water well over rated and I've had my current ones for about 4 years now maybe more. Sicce are great because they push a narrow beam of water and this will help me reach the end of the tank, since its 7ft long. The plan is to not have wavemakers on the 3rd long viewing panel. Although all the peninsula I have seen mostly end up with wavemakers on the 3rd viewing panel LOL. Lets see how we go! challenge accepted!

Skimmer:
I have decided to go with the dalua great white DC GW-17 maybe the GW-22, but the 22 might be overkill. I've heard nothing but good things about this skimmer!

Method:
I currently dose kalk and I love it. I built my own kalkwasser reactor actually. But because I want this tank to be simple and not so time intensive. I am leaning towards the balling method with a fuge. I will see how PH goes if I want to get complex with kalk, 2 part, then dose traces on a doser separate. I have seen so many amazing looking tanks using the balling method if I'm being honest. Its also easier to fine tune your dosage. Where as I find Kalk can be challenging as my tank consumes more alk then calcium. So I also find myself needing to dose a alk sup on top of kalk to keep up with demand.

I hope everyone enjoys this journey with me as much as I am excited for this build and to share with everyone on reef2reef. I plan to add updates and give more details as well progress, with of course lots of photos!

As always happy reefing!

Sorry there is not much exciting updates currently on the tank. I should get the keys to the new house early next month and looking at delivery of the reef mid to late next month!

Looking forward to giving some visual updates soon with pictures and getting this beast setup.

Next steps is getting my current tank moved and setup in the garage of the new home. Once the new tank is setup, transfer all the stock over and then some

Following along! Just picked up a Cade 1800 peninsula. Can’t wait to get started.
You'll have to update your build thread so I can follow back!

How exciting! congratulations on your purchase, I'm curious what equipment you have decided on as well

I should hopefully have the tank delivery early next month now and then just need to hire people to move the tank inside because it's huge then the fun and excitement starts

I’ve been lucky and was able to purchase all the equipment and live rock to get started. Here is my build thread.

The move was intense but I had 8 ppl and we only needed to lift it onto the stand. Luckily we borrowed heavy duty dollie’s so it was rolled from the garage to the stand inside. If we didn’t have the dollie’s I would have needed suction cups.

Your tank has to weigh over 600 lbs. it’s a beast!!!

Just a small update, ordered a ceiling rail system that is normally used for hanging pictures to hang my lights. The rail kit can handle 25kg per metre. 2x rails at 2m each = 100kg. I think this should be more then enough to support the 4x orphek natura and future additions as the tank grows out!

I may have also done a thing and pre-ordered the mastertronic essentials. I've done some looking into it and have some high hopes for this product. It's a massive change to the old unit and was never a fan of the actuator/syringe style tester. It now uses pipettes and a drop counter. Massive upgrade in my eyes!

Hopefully have some updates on the tank delivery soon. Tank should now be in Aus, can't wait to put this all together

I’m trying to figure out the same thing for my light rack. The hardware they sent for the quad reefbrite is 50lbs ea. but I’m also adding four radions. I think it should be fine, 4 radions is 20lbs

Hope you get the tank soon! That thing is a beast.

Supposed to be in Aus on the 12th now. So hopefully will have it a few days after and hopefully it's not too late to hire some help to move it inside before Christmas lol

Just a quick update...

Have received my ceiling rail kit for hanging the lights. I'm very happy as they are low profile and the cables fit perfectly into the orphek hanging cable system. So I'm hoping it helps keep a clean look!

Nothing too exciting but here are some pictures below, hopefully have the reef tank next week. have ordered a saltwater delivery for next week as well, to fill some olive drums. The water will be stored in the drums until the tank is ready to fill

I don't see any advertised options for a 2100 penensula. Is Cade custom building it for you?

I've hade an 1800 S2/P for almost two years and I love it. My build thread:

Thanks for the question, I reached out to cade as I really like the look of cade tanks but wanted something a bit bigger then the S/P 1800 so they agreed to build a custom size for me based on the same design

Your tank is looking great, this gets me excited!

What’s the dimensions of the 2100 peninsula they’re building? The same as the 1800 but a foot longer?
Thanks for the question :)

It will be the same width but taller and longer

2100Lx800Wx700H measurements in mm

I went a little taller as I wanted the depth. It's still serviceable hight, my current tank is about the same height. I also got it euro braced for piece of mind and as well as help with splashing

Oh ok nice! Yeah, I ask because I believe the regular CADE 2100 and 1800 is a couple inches less wide than the 1800 Peninsula

So just another update, should have the tank on the 31st now and have a team booked to move it on the 6th. Will keep everyone posted. Sadly all this happens whilst I'm back at work, so this build might not happen as quickly as hoped. But that's okay, none the less it will be setup and it's a dream tank, so lots of motivation!

Thanks to those following along and can't wait to share some more photos once the tank is in place

Happy reefing

It's a Aussie store, so if your in Aussie you can buy them. Might have to check if they do shipping outside of Australia if your not in Aussie
