Ordered 3 "begginer" soft corals for my first saltwater tank and the Cespitularia erecta was one of them.

It came looking like this.

On one side it almost looks shredded.

Weird bit of film hanging off of it and that white "wound" on one side.

It opens and closes normally. Extending during the day and retracting at night. The little fronds never fully open, but these are my first corals so I am not sure they are supposed to.

Only had it 48 hours so idk what "normal" is.

Followed a standard petco iodine dip procedure when I got it to clear off disease and parasites. Didn't seem to like that so only did it for about 10min.

Is this normal? Will it heal? Any other treatment I should be doing?

The company I ordered it from said "It will be ok and I couldn't kill it if I tried" lol whatever that means.

It should heal in short order, yes. Xenias can quite literally thrive in a toilet, so your supplier is correct. :beaming-face-with-smiling-eyes:
Cespitularia erecta is a Xenia's?

By the gods... Just saw that it is in fact a Xeniids.

This thing going to spread all over my tank like a Pulsing Xenia!?

What have I done? Lol

Yes. I haven't owned this particular variant, but there is definitely potential for unchecked growth with all xenias.
