Critique My Rockscape!

Finally getting back into the reef game! Please give me your thoughts on what I've done so far. Tank is a 58 gal, basically a tall 40 breeder with a center mounted in tank overflow. The tank bottom is the same size as the black tray the rocks are on and height is to the top of the tank behind it. Thanks in advance!

I dont like it at all. It is way unballanced and there isnt any movement or direction to it. That..and the phallus thing.

Try getting some kind of horizontal angle going.

My wife gave me hell when I got a Peach Montipora Digi that was phallus shaped. Bad color/shape combo... Could only imagine her reaction if my entire rock scape was. At least the Monti will grow out of it.

Ok I’m being serious here. Turn it so the shaft part is on the outside instead of the inside. Then rotate it 90 degrees so it makes a cave/star gate looking thing

Or you could even get a small shelf rock and attach it to the opposite side of the leaning arch. It would provide more placement for corals.

Left side is great, right side... Not so much. On the right the piece going upward should taper to a smaller tip for a more natural appearance. Also I think I would just get rid of the tip thing. Instead round it and arch it down to connect. The reason for this is that coral placement capability would be better.

Not sure what you meant by this: "with a center mounted in tank overflow" but with two islands with a gap in the middle you will leave the middle bit in plain sight

I agree with everyone else. I like the left but not the right.....mainly because it will be hard to make use of the rock when it comes time to mount coral....unless you are just covering it in something encrusting.

Edit: if you can get the arch in front of center overflow it could help hide it a little.

It sounds weird, but doesn't look like so much of an "eroction" haha in person. I was leaving there open space to fill with corals mounted on the rocks to fill the gaps rather than just sitting over rock everywhere. I still have more to mess with, and haven't broken down much rock yet for better pieces to possibly add a shelf or bridge the gap between yet. Here's a few quick shots from other angles and a bridge rock (not final). I'll mess with it moe after work. Thanks guys!

That’s cool. I really like the side views too.

I also think it’s smart to build in sections like you are doing so it’s easier to get into the tank.

looks like you are using EMarco. That’s what I used and I was so happy I did , it’s really strong. I did mine in sections that could fit together. I can pull it out if I need to in 3 sections. I’m glad I did it this way because the used tank I bought busted after a week of being set up and I was able to cycle the rocks in a brute while my new tank was being built. They will go right back together like nothing happened.

I would probably place two round rocks at the base of the right side pillar.
