Hi Guys,

Trying to see if anyone has any other ideas. I’ve tried everything I can think of and can’t seem to get rid of the diatoms. The tank has been running for over a year but this problem started a couple of months ago. Here are the specs:

150g entire water volume.
Skimmer: Maxpect Aeraqua Duo AD600
Filter roller
Algae scrubber
And I run RoaPhos.

My nitrates and phosphates are 0. I’ve changed my filters on my 5stage RODI. I’ve tried 3 day blackouts twice. 20gal water changes every week with a few 40gal water changes to suck up more diatoms. I’ve dosed hydrogen peroxide, coral snow, and Brightwells Razor. I’ve also added copopods a few times and dosed phyto for a few weeks. Nothing seems to be doing the job and it’s getting all over my corals and killing then. Any ideas or suggestions will be greatly appreciated. Thanks

I don’t think those are diatoms, maybe dinoflagellates. They need a different approach to get rid of. Hopefully someone more knowledgeable will chime in. If they are dinoflagellates, The link below may help

I would take all rocks out and scrub that algae off, vacuum sand, clean all glass, and once you get your tank looking new again, check everyday for algae and clean it up right away if you see it, don't let it get bad again, your algae scrubber should work better now, keep a good schedule for your water changes, dosing, and testing, and get a couple crabs and snails.
