Not much of a DIY really, but I found my my 20 gallon SPS frag tank in need of a little polishing. It's a bare-bones system, with a AC 50 with GFO, carbon, and filter floss. The problem is the HOB just wasn't pulling enough of the particulates out of the water. Parameters are all spot on, but the water had a little detritus getting blown around that never really settled anywhere so that I could vacuum it out. Isn't hurting anything, but it's just a little unsightly.

Step 1) Take out old Sicce 2.0 pump from a prior 40B build
Step 2) Find a small drawstring filter sock
Step 3) Put the filter sock on the pump outlet
Step 4) Put the pump and sock in the tank and plug it in
Step 5) Run for 24 hours

Results: Crystal clear water (ignore the drab colors on the frags in pic 1, only white lights are on)
