Do I Remove My ASOV When Installing A Booster Pump?

Hi all, per the title: do I need to take this mechanical ASOV off when I install my booster pump? It includes an electric/solenoid powered shut off valve.

It seems likely, but I figured I'd ask.

Edit: Actually, wait... Thinking about it, I probably should leave it, shouldn't I? The solenoid valve will turn the pump off, but water will probably still be pushed through it, and keep going out the waste line, right?

My understanding is that the booster pump pressure switch needs to go after the ASOV.

However, if yours truly has a solenoid (and not just a pressure switch), then I’m not sure. More details on the setup would help. Thanks!

If so, I believe you’re just using the solenoid to shut off the incoming water completely. So you wouldn’t use the ASOV in this case.

I think I misspoke, actually. It's almost certainly just a pressure switch. Sorry! This is immensely helpful, though. Seems like I'll need to leave the ASOV on, that being the case, right?

The booster pump comes with a 40lb switch to shut off the pump when the float is up in the reservoir, making pressure on the line from the last DI cartridge. Leave the original on the BRS system in place if it's the white 4 hole block. Correct, booster goes after last carbon block, before the membrane.

Which is interesting to hear, because I’ve seen it mostly suggested to install before all that. I do have a sediment prefilter I was going to put before it, but it’s better to put it after carbon instead of before? Even with that prefilter?

Sediment filter is fine. You don't want a wad of crud going through the pump and ruining it.

I have the moved the shut off valve to the end of my line right before my bulk tank. This way i can shut off the water at this point, causing the booster pump to build pressure and turn itself off. When i keep my tank full, the float valve does this. When i dont want a full tank, the manual valve takes care of this for me. If you put an off valve before the booster pump, it will not shut the pump off. So when i am doing maintenance, i run the lines out and then unplug the booster to kill it. If i am just done making water, i use the manual valve.

Anything to close the exit line to build that 40lbs of pressure up to flip the pump switch. Close the exit, and the booster shuts off in a few seconds. A manual valve, a float valve with the rubber plunger, I use an electronic solenoid after that little black switch on my system as my shutoff of rodi water.

Yes I do. Still need to clean up some stuff so don't judge to hard, but here is my setup and placement.
