The title is in reference to the once odd yet popular look down Fish. While somewhat mysterious, they are also somewhat unique. They are regarded as one the best schooling fish out there and are Very peaceful. They boast an aluminum foil appearance and are often a focal point in any tank. While they get large, their tank does not have to be large as they grow slowly and often at 4" size and weaned on commercial foods. They require basic aquascaping and lower water flow.
As a member of the jack family, the best tank size will be 210g - 300g or even more.

Where are they as I have not seen one in at least two years - Not even advertised on online stock lists?

Do you or have you owned a Lookdown fish?
Have you seen one in person (many public aquariums keep them)
Would you consider owning them if you saw them at an LFS?

I have always like the lookdowns, but I've never had a tank big enough. Even if I did, I've never seen one for sale in person or online! I feel they could regain some serious popularity if captive breeding initiatives would start.

Wow that’s so weird. I was just thinking about starting a thread like this and one of the two fish that I had thought disappeared on us is the look down. The other is the Adult High fin snapper. I think they are just so hard to feed plus the tank size requirement. Adult high fin snapper has some of the same issues.

I have a lfs in Connecticut that has a bunch of them in a tank. They are fun to watch go back and forth as a school. I myself would never own that big of a fish, also considering I would probably never have that big of a tank.

More of a show tank. I never asked but I don't think he would sell them. They have been there for years.
Darn it. As I stated - I see them on display but havent for sale for quite a while

One of my favorites since I was a kid. But as others have said I can't imagine owning a large enough aquarium to house them.
