My hammer has almost grown where he will be brushing against the rock, should I move it? I probably should have thought ahead about this before I put it in this spot...

Nope, as long as it's happy where it's at, it will grow around the rock. No worries.

I have learned one important lesson in dealing with a reef tank. The more you put your hands into it, the more we usually mess it up. It’s a mini ocean, life will figure itself out. My tank has always done very well because, I for starters don’t have arms long enough to do much in my tank unless someone strings me from the ceiling, and I have a swim suit on and a snorkel. But also mainly because I keep my hands out of my tank, unless I have to put them in it. Your corals will learn how to survive if you keep your water parameters and lighting correct.

Hey lol what can I say I’m like 5ft 2 90 pounds and my tank is a 240 gallon and it’s 35 inches tall. I haven’t grown since the 8 grade. I blame my parents genetic code such meanies.
You really should work on that harness. How are you supposed to know your sand bed is clean? lol

Well the harness is easy, lol plus I don’t weigh enough to break the ceiling. But since I studied way way more
Than my share of physics, I’m thinking about having a pulley system attached as well with some fishing line that is strong enough to catch blue fins. Then I’ll hire some elementary kid down the street from me, since they usually weigh more than I do. Then I’ll have a 45 inch snorkel just in case the elementary kid that I hire doesn’t pay attention and drops me into the tank. At least I can still breath right. But assuming he only drops me once I’m sure that will kick up quite a sand storm and problem solved. Heck if he drops me twice wow it would be like brand new sand. But if I get lucky and they don’t drop me, I’m sure I can use a pasta noodle stirring spoon instead.

I agree with everyone else. The coral will grow and extend its polyps in the most natural fashion.

I learned the hard way not to micromanage the reef so much. millions of years of evolution gave these guys the tools to deal with some rocks :D
