Hey everyone! I noticed my hammers and mushrooms looking off this morning. I did multiple water tests

Alk 8.9
Ca 470
Mg 1470
NO3 13.7
PO4 0.08
Salinity 1.026

The only thing that changed in my routine was dosing AV Fuel. Second dose was last night. Work up to everything irritated. Did a 20g water change on my IM50 Lagoon.

Just looked at the bottle of AV Fuel that I bought new from my LFS this past friday (6/14/2024) and saw it expired 6/03/2024!!!

Should I move these hammers to my 210?

Pretty irritated. I know I should have looked at the exp date, but it was literally fresh off the shelf..

Hammers don’t really need anything but light and nitrates as a food source

I doubt the fuel is helping them. But the fact it’s an expired product might be harming the tank

Would recommend water change + carbon or chemipure

I wanted to expirement with it for my SPS. Hammers always been happy in here until that second dose. I’ll add some carbon

Ok sps yes I can see that helping

I’m not sure the effect of the product when expired but euphyllia are very sensitive and it could be related. Maybe skim a little wetter for a day or two also and be prepared to replace a little sw as a result

Man I don’t even have a skimmer for this thing . I added a cup of carbon, will do another water change tomorrow morning, going to move a few pieces to my 210 and if they do alright I’ll probably just move everything over

It only expired a couple of weeks ago. Maybe it was always bad, or maybe it is unrelated, but it did not suddenly go bad in the past 2 weeks.
I really have no idea at this point. I’m pretty hands off with the tank. Other than pulling some rocks out to get my bristle tooth out. But everything was open and happy after that. I also added some brs Mg but that’s about it.

I don’t run a skimmer either but I do have one in case I need to pull anything out in one off situations. A water change or two could be a good thing.
