Aloha! I'm hoping to get some opinions on my stocking list, process, and order of fish to add. Thanks!
I have a newly cycled 170g DT that I’m transferring my current fish into
Current fish I’m transferring to new tank:
2x clowns
1x flamehawk
1x midas blenny
1x banggai cardinal
1x Diamond goby
Current fish I’m taking to my LFS:
Sailfin Tang x1 (will get too big – it’s only 4 inches now)
6-line wrasse x1 (don’t want it to mess with the new fish I plan on getting)
I’m moving all my current live rock into new tank, so there shouldn’t be any ammonia spikes, right? And, as I mentioned, the new tank is cycled and producing nitrates.
After that’s done, I’m planning on adding new fish to tank in small batches in the following order about a month or so apart (when quarantine is complete. Quarantining these batches of fish in a 30-inch long 20g tank.
Batch 1:
Orchid dottyback
Banggai Cardinal (so I’ll have two total including my current one)
Azure damsels x2 or 3. I can’t decide between 2 or 3 due to aggression issues. Any opinions?
Batch 2:
Wrasses x4
All small females: blue star leapard, lineatus, exquisite are a few I’m interested in. I've been told not to get two of the same species.
Batch 3:
Angels (Genicanthus) x3 or 4, all small females
Zebra (possibly a pair)
Spotbreast
Japanese Swallow
Batch 4
Whitetail bristletooth tang or yellow eye kole
Purple tang
Tomini tang
Foxface
Again, I’m aiming to start all of them as small females. Any suggestions on 3 or 4 tangs that are capable of getting along together and that are on the smaller side would be appreciated.
Lastly, I’d like to add a pair of Mandarins, but I want to wait until tank is more established. Is it okay if I add these last? I would guess at least 6 months down the road.
Thanks in advance for your suggestions!
