Thinking of setting up I’m lagoon 25 reef with soft and maybe some lps. Wondering if anyone has this tank and what light are you using? Thanks for the help.

I'm currently setting up this same tank to be used as a QT tank for corals and other inverts. For me, I went with two Kessil a360we's, which are probably way overkill, but I had them on hand. I think two Kessil a160we's would be perfect for this tank. I happen to like Kessil lights, I like their shimmer, but there's lot of other choices, and I'm sure you'll get a lot of replies here. Good luck with your build!

Thank you. Haven’t started yet still undecided. Do you think one a360 would work? I’m worried about the spillage of light over the side. I to like the kessil technology.

That’s something to think about. You get shadows even with one 360? Thank you

Yes, just one light to me gives shadows and darker areas on the sides. You can start with one light and see how it does for you, but two is ideal, if you're talking about these Kessil pendants or similar lights.

Agreed with above. If you are starting from scratch two a160s would be better than 1 a360.

Two ai primes

Two ai blades(if light spill is a big concern these mount right ontop of the tank)

One 360 will work if you are prepared to deal with the shadowing. And it is upgrade proof should you choose to move it to a bigger tank in the future. The 160s will virtually be maxed with that depth of a tank.

Sounds like 2 160’s are the way to go. Now I have to ask but I think I know the answer, would 2 a80’s not be powerful enough? The tank is only 12 inches high.

Maybe for extremely undemanding (lightwise) soft corals but if you want to tickle into the lps and maybe even some easier sps the a80s are extremely underpowered

The other thing I just thought of is that if I get two lights I planned on using the controller and I know I won’t like the wire showing that’s going to connect the two lights.

I'd go with the two a160's even for softies. I have an a160we on an IM 10 gallon Nuvo that's basically the same height as your 25 gallon, and I wouldn't want less. I do have an a80, I thinks it's best for like 5 gallons and under sized tanks. You can start with one light, but I think you'll want/need two sooner than later. As far as the cable, sometimes you have to get creative there. I don't know your setup, but I can say that to connect the lights you only need a basic 3.5mm stereo cable, which are cheap and readily available in a range of length. Maybe you can find one that you can route so it looks good for your setup.

Looks like you convinced me to go with two. I could always get a separate controller for each light. Don’t know if it’s worth the extra cost though. Thank for all your help I’ll have to check the market place to see if any available.

Literally purchased one to keep it minimal for fish transfers and nems transfers. Received it a few days ago. Will be opening it soon.

I have this tank also. It's so shallow I don't think you'll have trouble keeping whatever corals you want lol.

I run mine with an XR15 G5 pro though, and I keep a soft/LPS reef.

I'm in the process of setting up this same tank and looking for some budget lights (<$300). Here's what I'm considering:
  • NooPsyche K7 Pro III (140 watts)
  • Nicrew HyperReef 100 gen 2 + controller (100 watts)
  • 21LEDUSA Reefbar Pro (x2) (72 watts x2)
  • Glowrium (x2) (48 watts x2)
I'm leaning toward the NooPsyche right now because I could hang it higher with the 90° optics, keeping the top of the tank clear for maintenance, and it has plenty of power and spectral adjustability. But I keep going back and forth, looking for more options as well.

I run 2 A80s, Tuna Blue. At the 2 year mark, I think it is plenty of light. I run the controller too. A little tricky to program, but really great results for me. I bought the single light mounting arm, and added a cross beam to accommodate 2 lights. Got most of the cords in the tube of the mounting arm.

I like that set up. Where did you get the single mounting arm and cross beam? The a80’s seem to work out ok?
