Good evening everyone, I wanted to get the opinion of the board and it's experts but I believe my mag maybe splitting (at least I hope it is better than the alternative). What are your thoughts? Does anyone know of them splitting? What should I do incase he is splitting? I have another mag and haddoni in the tank who are doing well so I can't make many system adjustments without affecting them.

A little history since about 3pm today one of my mags has been acting strangely. He would flattened himself out on his pedestal rock then would puff up, move then flatten again. I thought maybe flow was bothering him cause I just cleaned the pumps a few days ago. So I tuned down the flow closet to him but now I came into the tank room to see this. These pics where taken over a 90 min period.

And just now another update Pic. If he's splitting he's not messing around, he's getting to it quickly.

I was debating on cutting it last night but hoped it would finish splitting on its own. At this moment though I think it's too late to retrieve it to cut as it's wrapped itself almost 360* around the rock.

Is there any special requirements for either split? QT with cipro or just keep a very close eye of them?

So another update. He's pretty wrapped around the rock. If I need to divide him manually I'm not sure I can unwrap him enough without tearing him. I'm going to give him more time to split naturally before I look to divide him myself

Sorry for the lack of updates, been way to busy, getting ready for the holidays. But yes it took about 2 full days for them to split and both splits are doing well. Although the new split has yet to find his happy place. I'm looking to rehome him.

In a separate post I'll be detailing the splitting of magnesium, hydrogen, and plutonium atoms. I'm hoping to survive the event so I can share video post-procedural details lol.

Oh absolutely, my fissioning safety kit consists of Gardner gloves, hair net (waffle house fry cook hat is an exceptible substitution) , road flares, and floatation device with whistle (the whistle is important). Safety first I always say!

The whistle type is the most important thing here. I like to use a dog whistle, so people would be able to differentiate between a regular one and the one used to alert nuclear fission disasters.

Very cool. For some reason, that particular color morph has been known to split (as compared to other magnifica colors). Mine got 90% finished with the split, then ended up stopping, so I finally cut it. Both did fine and I eventually sold them.
