Hello, I recently cleaned my two ICE CAP Gyre pumps and when I re-installed them, one of them is not restarting. It periodically will move just enough to see it try to start but that is it. I am not 100% it was working when I removed it. I simply shut the controller off and remove the two units for cleaning. I tried to disassemble it a couple times with no luck. Do these motors go bad or a I missing something? Thought I would check before I buy a replacement

I do not own ice cap version but can you swap the two around and see if the problem follows?

Have you tried to manually spin it? Sounds like something is bound up.

Ok so update...if I remove the red/green orange spinners and just leave the magnet inside the pump head with the black connector on each side, it spins up each time. So good news...my pump itself is good. But I cant figure out why adding the two orange propellers and external housing is locking it up. I have taken these pumps apart dozens of times without an issue...am I missing something?

I hate when that happens. Sometimes takes me 2 or 3 tries to put it together. I also have those same gyres. That’s why I only clean them once a year.

Is this your first time cleaning it?

That happens when you push the cage into place either too much or not enough.

On the end of the cage are 2 lines One cage is orange lines the other is green lines. When you insert the cage into the pump, you should not see the lines at all. If you do, it’s not pushed in all the way. If they are in all the way, then one is pushed in more than the other. Jiggle them both so they are about pushed in equally.

I hope you get what I mean and hope it makes sense. I’m sorry it’s hard to explain ( after a few beers lol).

It’s a pain and like I said it takes me a few tries. Stay calm is the most important thing believe me. Good luck.

Also it should be perfectly silent. When you place your ear against the tank you should not hear any rattling. If you hear rattling then it’s not in properly.

Fixed! So I did it a different way to fix it. I first inserted the orange propellers one at a time into the end of the cage, one side at a time. I then slid the cage onto the black connector that is on each end of the pump housing. I then repeated this on the other side. By doing this, I didn't over insert it (Such as you suggested). That seemed to work. Normally I would attach the two orange propellers onto each end and then slide the case on..trying to get the white tip into the end of the cage. This method actually worked easier...I also followed your guidelines on the two red lines and green lines on each cage. Thanks for the help!
