Hi guys,

I think a have a Ich problem in the tank.
Most fish have spots on the fins. Some have spots on the body aswel. The golden rim tang is also swimming nervously. Breathing is normal. They all eat wel. Only a copperband just died and he did not eat wel, could be he was sick but also because he had difficulty with the flow and aggressive eating habits from the other fish.

Tank is 4 months old and all parameters are fine.

Do you think this is Ich or maybe just sand/other debree ? Have quite strong flow in the tank.

The spots on your foxface look like mucus plugs/cones. The others are very hard to make out in these pictures.
When I had ich outbreaks in my tank, my foxface also presented mucus plugs/cones. Not sure if it's a stress response related to ich. Others on here are much more experienced.

Some of the spots are pretty large to be ich, could be mucus plugs. However, ich can cause mucus plugs.

What I would do is prepare for the worst (set up a treatment tank) and then watch the spots - if the same spot is on the fish in the same location for days at a time, it isn't ich. If the spots come and go and change location, it is more likely ich.

I see a lionfish in the background? Watch that fish as they are prone to ich, but have different symptoms (lethargy and not eating) and may not show distinct white spots.

Agree with jay, I see ich on trigger although a couple of dots and on powder blue. With ich, dots will increase each day. With either, you will need to pull all fish and place into a separate treatment tank and apply Coppersafe at treatment level 2.25 for a FULL 30 days (do not interrupt this 30 day period) monitored by a reliable Copper Test kit such as Hanna Brand- No API brand. Also monitor Ammonia levels while in quarantine with a reliable test kit and add aeration during treatment using an air stone.
The display tank will have to be kept fishless (FALLOW) for 6-8 weeks to assure the existing parasites go through their life cycle without a host fish and die off and again, with occupants exposed, they too should go into quarantine
A quarantine tank can be as simple as a tank from a second hand store, a rubbermaid type tub or a starter kit from Walmart which has most of the needed essentials.

The spots on the fox face seem to change every day. All the fish behave normal, they feed well and none breathes heavily. I’ve tried some reef safe medicine but that did not help. If it’s not really necessary I don’t want to go trough all the troubles of catching fish buying new tanks en equipment etc.

It’s been the same now for a few weeks. I’m not even sure what it is.
Is it stupid just to wait and see?
