Ich??

Help! Woke up this morning and noticed this all over my clowns. Is this ich? I have had them for over a month and they’ve been fine until now. I do not have another tank, what do I do.

I don’t see anything on the orange clown but the black one appears to have either flukes or he beginning of Brook. Can you get the black one out for a freshwater dip? That will confirm or rule out flukes. Here’s a video on how to do it https://www.reef2reef.com/threads/freshwater-dip.248898/

That looks like brook or velvet to me, brook more likely than not.

Hard to tell from the pic. Does it look like it was dusted with powdered sugar? It might be Velvet.

Yea it looks like a dusting of sorts.. however as the day has gone along.. it’s starting to go away.. super weird.

Yeah... gotta tell ya... that sounds like Velvet to me. I don't know if Brook manifests itself in the same way. Definitely get it into a quarantine tank and keep a close watch on the other inhabitants so that you can move them to QT at first sign. There are a lot of good people here with experience in fish diseases. I'm sure you will get some good advice.

Do you have a QT?

Start treatment with Kanaplex and Metroplex, bound with focus to your frozen. To help with here immune system also drop in some vitamin C and B 12 complex. Treat the DT and if you have a QT running do the same. The corals will be fine.

People will tell ya all the common afflictions and to QT but all I'd recommend is waiting it out.
Watch closely QT are extremely stressful for fish and in my opinion are for last resort.
If you don't QT from the start i hate doing it later and I'm a huge fan of a DT type QT.
I'm also firm believer in garlic and a good diet to boost the immune system to fight it off.
It extremely hard to diagnose from photos without watching the fish and sometimes it still hard to know for sure.
Patients is this hobby in a whole.
So take your time and think it through thoroughly is my advice.

Agree. The fact that the spots are going away is in line with velvet life cycle

I've had fish that was rubbing on rocks and flashing i fed them well and no more problems.
People seem to forget there no copper treatment in the ocean.

This is true, but our tanks do not have the huge volume of water that is the ocean. If that is velvet it may already be too late, but every other fish in that tank is at risk.

For one velvet doesn't just disappear like the OP said it has.
Velvet is a parasite that feeds on
Chlorophyll so putting the fish in a completely dark tank after a freshwater dip is the best treatment.
I wouldn't copper treat unless your fish was already fat and fed well to begin with otherwise the death rate high.

I've lost a total of 2 fish ever to a parasite.
Flame angel and a Powder Blue Tang.

Clowns do not do well in copper btw... Lol, Humblefish is someone i avoid when it comes to treating a sick fish.
His/Her methods are standard fools gold recommendations in this hobby.

You have to know exactly what you're treating how it affects the species of fish.
Does the fish fair well I'm copper is it more sensitive to certain amounts of copper.
Low salinity an option in a blacked out tank?
Does this fish do well in low salinity?
Can i do a low salinity and copper treatment with this fish?
Has this fish been fed well in the first place so it immune system already strong?
I'm assuming fish is either new and the diet history is unknown.
Or does the OP not feed the fish well which led to allowing the parasite to continue it cycle?
Or is the OP feeding the fish well that why it goes away?
There is so many viables that come into play you have to consider and you're backing some guy/gal that using a one size fits all appoach?
No offense to him/her but I just don't like there approach and i feel like give bad advice with little knowledge of the parasites they're treating.
That my opinion and I'm leave it at that.
