Hi Reef 2 Reef!
I recently have been having algae issues and believe it was from lack of consistent water changes and flow. Anyways, I was curious what the best placement and intensities would be. I have a 60 gallon cube. I currently have a MP40 placed on the left-hand side of my tank. Also on the left-hand side I have a small Hydor placed flowing at a rock that I saw wasn't getting much flow. I also just added a tunze 6045 nano steam. What mode would you recommend on the vortech and what percentage? My tank certainly suffered a great deal when I tried dosing with Dino X. Never again will I try a chemical for a temporary fix. Water changes and good husbandry is the way to go. I unfortunately of all corals lost my GSP (LOL) & also found that my zoas took a hit.

Thanks! (Enjoy my tank before the algae break out) LOL

Don't hold me to it seeing as I'm pretty new to everything but have been told multiple times to face my powerhead in any direction as long as they were creating good ripple on top of the water for oxygenation. I have 2 powerheads on the back of the tank in the corners about 4 inches below top of the water and both are facing somewhat center of tank towards the front and up towards top

I think if you want Vortechs you'll need two.

Check others' experience....two mp10's *might* work....but I think you'd like two mp40's better.

If you were going to use 6045's, I think I'd be tempted to use 4 of them on timers and do away with the Vortech's

Short of adding/changing pumps, I'd try raising the mp40 so it's "aim" is above your rock structure - it should perform better with nothing in its way. Maybe try it on the back wall too.
