From “stripes” to “swirls” and spots to the “simple” and the “abstract”. Our aquatic pets run the spectrum. I’m guessing that’s what attracts so many, reefers and “non” to these gifts from the ocean. But some “standout” to us as individuals.
1. What “design style” attracts to you personally when you’re making that purchase or just kicking back and enjoying?

This is an interesting question and actually I couldn’t really say what I like. I just enjoy watching the movement and how each fish behaves.
Pattern wise it varies depending on the fish, I believe some fish look worse with detailed patterning than others.

If I could only have a tank with one design in it it would be simplistic, I love my CBB and my old Flashing Tile. I personally find the simple patterns are simple but complex at the same time. It just adds to the question, why they evolved to be so simplistic if corals can be so complex in colours

My girlfriend says I like stripes because all my fish have stripes. That is true. But best designed goes to naoko wrasse.
+1 to this, I love my naoko and the colours are so vibrant on them! It’s even better when they flash, I’ll try get a photo from today showing what mine looks like due to flashing.

I'm going to throw the marine betta into the ring. Beautiful specimen (not mine), so shy- yet graceful when he does come out. Bonus points for sticking his head in the sand and curling his tail out - mimicking a moray eel.

I didn’t know they mimicked a moray eel! Dang, these fish are so interesting to read about and I bet even better to watch.
