A raceway is possible in almost any size tank. You can grow corals in almost any tank as long as you have a sump with filtration the same size as it below it. Now imagine the same coral grow tank with interior walls to direct and concentrate the flow. Its that simple. Shallow tanks work easier because it concentrates the flow even more. Its fun! Sit down and draw out a box to represent your tank, now draw a maze with start and end in the box. Thats your pump outlet and overflow. Now think ahead and make sure the maze allows for easy access and viewing. Get creative. You can do a lot if you don't care about viewing it from the walls (only top down viewing). Raceways can also gain efficiency using interior walls on a gravity gradient (a lot of little waterfalls in the same tank instead of powerheads). The result for my needs was the raceway you see below. My second generation raceways will be complete soon

The community needs more info about raceway tanks. It starts with YOUR new raceway experiment :xd:

Thanks! My raceway is my display. Its actually pretty impressive. Most people really like it when they see it in person. You thinking of trying a raceway?

everytime I see your raceway I post about how awesome it is- so that's sorta redundant  I was curious if you had some of the design info? Like who made it out of what material, how the baffles are braced, how it's plumbed, any drawbacks you've seen, any high/low/turbulent spots you get from it, all that stuff. Thanks man!

Very cool. I saw someone designing a prop tank around this concept.. I personally don't know much about it but if you have any good reading that lead you to your raceway tank design Im sure theres many of us who would like to read through it too.
Tank looks good and your corals look happy. VN
