Male meleagris leopard wrasse, you can tell it's a meleagris by the black and while scale behind its head, and it definitely has a strong male coloration, good luck with him!
I think it's a meleagris, the black and white/yellow scale behind its head is a characteristic of macrophargyndon meleagris and only macrophargyndon meleagrisI believe this is a transitioning Macropharyngodon ornatus.
Is that why the store owner told me it was a green leopard wrasse ? I did notice a hint of green under the store lightsYou have a male Macropharyngodon meleagris. The give away is the yellow ear spot. Male M. meleagris develop this yellow spot M. ornatus does not. Your young male has a lot of red coloration right now which is why it looks like an ornatus, but as he matures he'll develop more green.
