Hi everyone, need some help/opinions on my lighting schedule I’ve got. My tank is still cycling right now so lights are off but I have made a schedule for myself and want some help. I have a NUVO 20 long with an ai prime 16HD mounted at 12 off the tank. My questions is, is this lighting schedule sufficient for a good range of softies and lps corals I plan to get? I will add that I start at 0 for everything and have ramp ups of the various light led’s accross the day. Also, specifically for the AI prime, the only effects I have seen to be acclimation and lunar. Q2, what is everyone’s opinion on moonlight. Need/ don’t need? Is it detrimental? And Q3, how do I find the thunderstorm feature with my tech? Do I have to download the file? If so where do I do this and how? Any advice appreciated!

What is the depth on your tank? I would try to keep under 100% due to all the reports of melted lenses. If you have a long tank I assume about 12"-14" depth? I don't think you need to keep it higher than 80%-85% for that depth. Your challenge will be the sides of the tank, the light advertises 24" width of light, but personally I think its more like 16"-18".

I don't understand why you have 2 peek times? Thats unnatural.

I don't use the moonlight, some folks do. I think its just a personal preference.

Depth of tank is 13 inches with about a 1-1 1/2 “ sand bed. I have heard about melting lens’s but will this happen with just the blue’s being high? I never get the white very high at all. My light schedule of 2 high blue periods to help get corals some really hard blue periods with a softer whiter period in between. Would the high blue’s still melt the lens or is that just high white? Is there a benefit to moonlight at all?

no benefit to the corals for moonlight.

I've never melted my lenses so I don't know the conditions that cause it, mine are at 70% and 3 years old and I've never had an issue.

I think the uv channel is what melts the lense. Most people leave the blue and raise the white, if they want "high noon".
