Hi everyone.
I have flat live rock that I attached to the back glass of my aquarium using Seachem reef glue.
I did this all by removing the livestock and rearranging the rockscape underwater.
The seachem reef glue works but the bond is not too great and the rock easily detaches from the glass.
It holds up because it’s a combination of glue and placement that keeps the rock where I want it, but I’d like the peace of mind of knowing it’s secure and attached as the live stock has knocked small rocks down from time to time.
I’d really like to solve the rock to glass bonding issue without emptying the tank of its water.
Anyone know of any glue or slilicone that could get this job done underwater.
Thank you.

Most people use silicone I prefer the stuff made by ASI hold power is amazing. I'm not sure about using it underwater I know there is a cure time

Got it.
I guess if it’s necessary Il have to drain the tank.
I think I’m going to try scratching the back glass to create a rough surface to see if the glue will hold
A little longer this way.
Thank you for the input!

I've read that some people glue a magnet to the rock and put the other one on the outside of the glass. I'm not sure the structure of your rock but that could be a solution.

This stuff isn’t really an adhesive, but it might work for what you’re trying to do.
Oh this is great! I’ve been searching online for a while now but could not come across anything like this. I knew they’re had to be something out there. I’m going to purchase this now!
Thank you!

Maybe try a magnet. I‘ve never heard of someone glueing rock straight to the glass, but I‘m also still kind of new to the hobby

Is that reef and coral safe?

I would bet against

But then, someone has to take one for the team

Let us know how it does

Is this just a small piece of rock

Or are you making a rock wall, or floating aquascape?

If the latter, I would take a sheet of black(clear) acrylic

Heat bend over a hook to go over the lip at the top of the glass

Epoxy my rock to the acrylic. Use acrylic rods if I wanted a protruding shelf of rock

It’s a pond and aquarium sealer, and their site says:

Can I use this liner sealer in marine tanks?
Yes, there is no difference in performance between fresh water and salt water.

I would hope that considering there’s living animals in both, that it should be ok. Though I would definitely be more comfortable if they stated that it was “safe” rather than “no difference in performance”.

I’m confident enough that I would try it if I had a need.
