Hello everyone, I just came on here to ask what would be the most needed/recommended Hanna test kits to purchase for a reef tank. More specifically lps/soft corals. Before I used api but read that they aren’t really too accurate and seeing as there’s money on the line I would prefer to have accurate tests. Any help would be appreciated!

My three are alkalinity, phosphate (774) and nitrate (782). I use Salifert for calcium and magnesium. I don’t test anything else and have never gotten an ICP.

Just ULR Phosphate unless you like spending money :)

Salifert works well for everything else.

I agree with this, make sure you get the high range nitrate test. Also if you plan to quarantine with copper get that test as well. Make sure to buy reagents, you will go through them surprisingly fast.

I would at least get the Hannah for phosphate imo
That’s what I see mostly everyone saying. Will try to get one of those. Thinking of going with what thedon986 said (alkalinity, phosphate, nitrate). Will do the rest with salifert. Will try to go buy them tomorrow!

I was gifted ALK, phos and nitrate Hanna test kits. I used Salufert exclusively for everything prior to this. It's been a world of difference. I still use Salufert calcium and magnesium.

Hanna phosphorus ULR or phosphate ULR. That’s it. The rest aren’t worth it IMO. They used to be but their prices are nuts now. Especially nitrate at $1 per test. Nothing beats Hanna for phosphate though.

Use Salifert for alkalinity, calcium, and nitrate.

My plan was to look on Facebook marketplace as brand new the Hannas would be a bit too much. I think phosphate will be the way to go for me. If salifert can the rest done I don’t see the point in spending more.

I honestly wouldn't spend good money on the Hanna Alkalinity or Nitrate.

Salifert works just as well and without the expense

I just sold my Hanna Alk, Ntrate, Calcium and Copper testers.

Agree with you on that. Honestly after reading everything I think I’ll only go with phosphate. Will leave the rest to salifert.
