I am trying to figure out what to do with my majanos..they are so often described as pests. I have 2 fairly large ones in the below zoa colony, and 1 growing on the rock to the right. Started off with 1, 8 months ago. They have had no I'll effect. In fact the below zoa colony has probably doubled in size with the majanos. What is the deal with these guys? What has been your experience?

I luckily haven't had them in my tank yet but my lfs has one tank that got them and they are literally covering almost every surface in it. He told me that he is going to pull the fish and corals that are in there out and kill them all. They spread like wildfire in that tank

Kill them ASAP as early as you can, before you lose control over them down the road

Ok, so it sounds like the main issue with the majanos is spreading and competing with corals for space? I have not directly observed any other issues with them as far as stinging corals..mine have multiplied from 1 to 3 in a 8-9 month period. I will keep an eye on them, and if they start spreading rapidly I will remove them.

@Jayh86, you probably want to start your own thread in the Invertebrate sub-forum...
(see here https://www.reef2reef.com/forums/general-invert-forum.196/)...if you want to get an answer to your question, as more people will see it that way, instead of being buried in this thread.

@FishyDP, from what I've heard, once the Majano's start spreading rapidly, it's already too late.

Thanks,

Arthroverts

I am now up to 8 majanos..and they are starting to bother some colonies. My above pictured zoa colony has had about 1/2 polyp loss. I am now a believer that they are pests. I will be breaking down my tank in the next month or so due to moving..and will be removing all of them!
