I have my RO system mounted to the wall near my waterheater and a 44 gallon Brute that I mix my saltwater in below it. after a couple close calls with overflowing the Brute (the last time that waters surface tension was holding it above the rim!!) I finally bought the float valve and shutoff from BRS. Now for my conundrum....

Once I mix my water, I need to be able to roll the can across the room. with the RO tubing attached to the float this isnnt possible, its now tied to the corner of my spare room. is there some sort of quick disconnect that I could put inline of the RO tubing? I saw a number on Amazon, but they are all 1/4 inch barbs on the ends. I dont kow that I can get the RO tubing over a barb. I was looking at creating my own, with a combination of push to connect to threaded adapters and other things to enable me to have a quick disconnect, but then I realized Someone must have run into this before and found a solution....

what if you just use a push connect fitting and one of these quick disconnect tools?

Hi, you didn't say what size RO tubing you are using, but you did say 1/4 you cannot use, so I think you are using 3/8, that's ok, there are many places to get 3/8 disconnect, there is a nice cheap 3/8 kit on Amazon that has a disconnect, it's 13 bucks: let me know if you want to see it.

I hav a similar situation.

I have a ato container plumbed with 1/4” tubing to the tanks float valve. I want to be able to take the tank to my water source and fill it, but not have it leak on the way back. I bought these push lock ball valves …8$ for a 5 pack

Well sell those valves... but unfortunately, they are not a good long-term solution. you end up scratching or otherwise damaging the outside of the tube every time you disconnect from the quick connect fitting. At some point the oring in the fitting won't seal and you'll get a leak. In cases where you want to connect and disconnect repeatedly, the coupling assembly I linked to above is a much better solution.
