Our tank finished cycling at 4 weeks and we just introduced two longfin Darwin clowns. They came from different tanks but we did get one larger and one smaller. The little guy is getting chased around and nipped at (no damage yet that I can tell). I’m curious of how long we should expect this behavior. Obviously have to give it time but i want to know an idea so we can take one back if need be. Also I came downstairs this morning to see them each in a different corner swimming by the sand, are they sleeping? Does the flow seem too intense? TIA :)

I got a bonded pair of Clarkii and they were cool for the first 5 days then the bigger one started chasing the littler one.

I was worried but when they eat they both eat and no issues. Then a few times day I notice the big one chasing the smaller one.

I’ve seen several post about clowns and the only predictable behavior is they are seemingly unpredictable.

Just watch them and make sure they are eating.
That’s what I am doing.
Following to see if anyone with much more experience and expertise chimes in.

Good luck and enjoy.

not abnormal with clowns and often the larger of the two will be a problem child, aggressor and bully, a term known as clownfish hierarchy. Keeping an eye on them is the most you can do for now

We ended up bringing the larger clown back to the LFS. When we got them we asked the worker if it was okay and he said it would be fine putting them together. I felt something wasn’t right and sent a video to the owner and he said they needed to be seperated immediately before the little one got injured. We didn’t have the heart to watch him get terrorized either. Apparently the long fins don’t pair well and he keeps them seperated for that reason… would have been nice to know that from the start. Our little guy is now doing amazing and is happy as can be, never aggressive to our other fish.
