I just got a shipment of snails this morning, after about four hours several fish are going nuts....
My powder brown is most effected...spinning around the tank and diving his right side into the sand,...what did I do? one clown and a hippo tang are showing the same behavior....all these fish have been in the tank for years. Snails are the only thing new to the tank in several months.

Any idea what has happened....and no, of course I didn't qt the snails, but I didn't ad the shipping water to the tank.

I'd think, that sounds like a long shot that just snails just added is causing this in so short a period of time.
Are the snails out & moving around? How many?

I don't know if they would effect them that fast even if it was the snails doing it....strange behavior.....

So far less than half have moved, but I don't think they have a problem....total of 112 snails

I would be checking the immobile snails to make sure they are still alive. If they are dying in your tank, that could be causing an ammonia spike.

It is also possible that they came loaded with velvet tomonts or monogeneans eggs (or some other parasite/worm) on their shells, and these are now releasing free swimmers into the water which seek out fish to infect.

Day 3 ...good news with the fish, they were just ticked off with the new additions. They threw their temper tantrums for awhile but by the next day they were all just fine, and by day 3 they all are cruising around like nothing happened. ....didn't like new arrival in their territory.

But the bad news....most of the small Florida certs have still not moved.....Funeral service for them will be next Tuesday at 4:00 ....light refreshments after.
