I got this rock with a used tank I bought. I just got around to getting a good look at them and I don't know if I want to even use them. Has a look of lime stone may be? Are those iron stains? Received some pukani was going to mix them. Use as base or something. The texture and orange/brown colors got me thinking twice about it. Is this rock a no go? Thanks

Sometimes you do just inherit someone else's problems. The stains could be from nuisance algae that was allowed to die and dry on the rocks in which case they could be cleaned with some effort, but considering the quality of most pieces, I wouldn't bother.

Thanks for the reassurance Bill. I had some room in the bleach bath. Threw them in anyways. They won't be going in my tank. Im gonna throw them in the bottom of brute can of cycling water and forget about them, see what happens..

Since you've done that much, just keep an eye on pH; if they're leaching minerals or heavy metals, it will change. If not then they're safe. :)
