Plate coral id

My friend went diving in Sabah. He somehow managed to bring back what he calls Sabah plates. It was tiny when he gave me a little more than a month ago, maybe the size of a quarter. It’s grown substantially for some reason and the tentacles have really started to extend. Do you think it’s a heliofungia? Long tentacle plate.

I’ve noticed it eats like crazy when I feed the tank. It eats more than my other plates that are 4 times it size. Really a shock to be honest.

I have an orange one too but this one has much longer tentacles and the tentacles wave a lot more. This plate is tiny btw. I should take side by side pics.

+1 regular fungia. I have a one just like it....yes my green has longer tentacles than my orange but my actual long tentacle plate could almost pass for a torch coral. You can not even see the body on a long tentacle as the tentacles themselves are so numerous.

Super cool that he was able to bring it back. As stated above looks like a regular green fungia, but still cool. Have you seen those super red ones from LA? I've been itching for one. Lol

I haven’t seen those. I’ll have to check them out. This is the pic he sent me and said “choose one”.

Lol! Yeah I was going to say that but I’m grateful enough. But he sent me that before he flew back and I was thinking, no way he’s getting through security with those. But he did.

Haha no kidding. I wonder how.. crazy some people get held up bc their water bottle is the wrong size. Others have brought coral back in in cary ons, some people got guts.

Another friend of mine was trying to bring back mud from a mangrove marsh in Raja Ampat and got stopped and had to dump it....

Stopped by LA to check out plates. They have some nice pieces for sure. The pink one is amazing. I’d like to grow it out and make it a centerpiece

Yea that red one is fuego. Lol. I dont remember it being that expensive though. It's on divers den every once in a while too. Usually around 140$ but maybe they increased the price.

Cant beat that. That's a good freebie. One of my best ones was a single head of a splatter hammer, it was mostly closed up and you couldn't tell it had the splatter pattern. After o got it home it opened up and I noticed it. Now its 5 heads and looks awesome.

I love the colors on my plate but it hasn't done anything since I've had it really. This was right after I got it, the tentacles are longer now but it is still flat.
