Cn anyone tell me whT kind of algae this is and how to eradicate it ? pH was 7.8. Salinity 1.025 nitrates 40 ppm since I went out of town. Now everything is back to normal. pH8.0 salinity 1.025 nitrates 20 ppm. My goal is to get nitrates back to about 10 ppm

Thanks

That looks like red cyano. Does it form sheets that can be blown off with a turkey baster? if so then it's cyano. Since parameters are back to normal and assuming you have good flow then it might clear itself up. If not then I would siphon it out with a water change. If you want to take chemical action against it you can use something like Chemiclean followed by a water change a few days later

There are two spots in the tank I will clean them both up today. Thanks for all the responses. I am going to try the non chemical approach first. Get the nitrates back down to 10 ppm. I had added 2 small bubble tip anemones the other day to the tank. Is it true they like “dirty” water ? Dirty water meaning nitrates a little on the high side (10 ppm)?

I have had BTAs thrive in very low nitrate water (<1ppm) and high nitrate water (>10 ppm)
