I’m relatively new to the hobby but I run full steam ahead and get way too involved, way too fast. Anyways, about two weeks ago I saw a guy post that he was getting out of the business professionally and moving the next day and he had to move a colony of acro. I drove down and ended up buying everything he had left, which was way too much for 80 gallon tank, so I upgraded to a bigger tank to make room.
Anyways he told me the name of this coral and I forgot, said it was “the original” and took 5 years to grow these three pieces. Also said they’ll color up if taken care of again. Tried to google it tonight to identify the coral and not sure if it is what I think it is.
Let me know what your thoughts are and if you think it’s a particular coral. If so let me know so I can find it a better tank before I RTN it by accident.
Pic is taken with blues and then 100% white

After my googling tonight that's what I concluded but I'm having a hard time believing it based on how rare all the comments say it is.
I would doubt that it's OG Tyree Purple Monster. The growth pattern doesn't look right for that. Can you call the guy you got it from, or shoot him a PM or email? Here's a very old picture of my colony grown from a frag directly from Steve, and a pic of my current piece which is still just a frag.

The pictures don't help identify it at all. 100% blues is unrealistic and impossible to take pics of. 100% white always looks super brown. I'm guessing it's browned out right now. It's nearly impossible to tell which coral it is since it's browned out.

I sent the original seller a message asking about the lineage of “the slow grower”. I’m placing two of the three into a friends tank who is very successful to see if he has luck coloring them up and a better chance of keeping them alive than me.

Received confirmation from the seller that they are indeed the original purple monster. Started from a 1” frag 5 years ago. Dropping them off at a friends place tomorrow to ensure (or as close as possible) growth and coloration. Thanks for all the comments

Can’t tell anything from those pics... take a normal pic with a orange filter. Not sure on purple monster, growth is all wrong, maybe a Oregon tort. Ppl like to throw around rare these days...

Pics of the color of the polyps would help as well

Not my pic of course, but looks awfully similar and taking into account the significance of flow into how it grows for the macro structure. Seller also would like a piece mailed back to him when he is set up again, I’m trusting him but I will verify it after it colors up.

Sure seems like a rare coral based on the research and growth rate. I hope it colors up nicely. I have no interest in selling them but want to make sure they’re placed in a healthy tank to allow for years of growth and if one crashes there will be more.
