Will reef roids increase the amount of pineapple sponges I have in my tank ? It's a new aquarium 5 months old. Don't want the sponges to get out of control been cleaning them out of sump, overflow, pipes and pumps but have left them alone in the display. Even if I wanted to remove them from reef would be impossible. But want to feed my corals if reef roids are going to make the sponges worst what else could I use. I tried target feeding the corals but them seem to close up when I do that. But really extend out when I just dose them.

You’ll be fine.

IMO.
Although a filter feeder. I belive it is one of the sponges that builds a solid silicate skeleton. So ,like diatoms, the amount of silicate in the water from the new rock and sand of a new tank slowly decreases, thus reducing their numbers .
You’ll always have a few.

For you sponge heads (like me) grab different sponges from the tank and squeeze em between you index finger and thumb. There is a definite difference in the feel.

Thanks guys for some reason I'm paranoid about these things but everyone keeps tell me to leave them alone. Just new to this amazing hobby and want to learn as much as I can 5 months ago I didn't even know what a skimmer or sump was.
