Hello.

It's been several years since I've been in the reefing hobby.

After much back and forth I decided on ordering a IM Nuvo 75gal EXT.

There's a lot of changes since I've last had a tank (last one was a 10gal nano).

It'll probably be a slow build with gradual collection of equipment, but I've made the first step and ordered the tank today!

My current goal is mixed reef, LPS + SPS. Will likely adjust lighting and water movement as things grow out/change.

Equipment:

Tank:
Innovative Marine Nuvo 75gal EXT

Sump:
RFS 27 (included with the full set up)

Stand:
APS Stand

Heater:
Innovative Marine Helio PTC 400W

Skimmer:
Reef Octopus Regal 150 INT

Return:
Mightyjet XL (2656gph DC)

Lighting:
2 x Kessil A360XE

Powerhead:
1 x MP40wQD

ATO:
Tunze Osmolator 3

Testing:
Milwaukee Refractometer

Salt:
Red Sea Blue Bucket

Livestock:

Fish:
TBD

Coral:
TBD

and..i have a estimated arrival date of 11/12. that's surprisingly fast. The documented crate weight is 100lb more than reported on their website...i hope i won't have too much trouble lifting this into place :face-with-open-mouth:

First time running a sump. So far leak tests look good. However my overflow sounds like a toilet.

I’m wondering if I’m misinterpreting the set up.

It is advertised as bean animal, but this is more like a herbie overflow? Meaning main drain should be full siphone and second pipe is emergency drain with the third being a redundant e drain? So I should adjust the level to just below the 1st E-drain?

Yes just below the first pipe. You could buy some pvc and cut new ones which is what I’ll probably do with my next set as they both could be 1/4” longer.

My understanding is main drain should be a full siphon but adjusted down so you get just a silent trickle through the secondary then the 3rd is the emergency.

Slightly unorthodox, but decided to install a wire shelf and use this with carabiners to hang the Kessils. Figure it’s a place for me to keep all my test kits etc.

Working on a cycle with turbofritz. Started skimmer a few days later. Overflowing like crazy. Trying to get it dialed in before I start building bioload.

In the mean time…got a acrylic ato reservoir, bought a cheap cabinet on Amazon to start mounting stuff..
