With the typicial BRS dead white rock, having so many holes, I thought by using the expanding foam would fill in nicely creating a bond for a structure.

But, by even using the type for ponds for creating water falls etc,... that can be wet, would the saltwater just eat away the foam creating dangerous situation, as you can imagine, or would it work ?

Is it a strong enough bond to handle a load, keeping the scape together ?
Will the salt eat away the foam ?

How long has yours been together ?

The foam is inert. The foam is supporting all the rocks in that back wall alone. The background is silicone in place by section at end. This one is 6 months old, I had a foam background last tank over 5 years.

The foam may deteriorate unless you coat it with epoxy.

im going on 14 ish years w just great stuff triple expanding foam as an amazon backround in a planted tank. I know its not marine but its fairly acidic water in constant contact approaching two decades and not a problem one holding rocks and heavy driftwood pieces in place, fully rooted by plants etc nothing chips off/still tough. should be g2g long term in a marine environ and the posts above are nice tracking for its saltwater abilities too. go for foam.
