I bought my first anemone the other day.

I put it in the bottom and he started to move pretty quick to find a spot.

he ended up in a cool spot about where I wanted him.

but for the last two days he has been down inside the rock and will not come out. Should I be worried? No way he is getting enough light. It's hard to be patient. This is how he has been for a while.

That is a sweet looking Nem there! Don't worry they will come back out. Just keep an eye on it if it gets near that powerhead of yours. They tent to do it at night and browse around. Once they find that sweet spot they will stay there. Enjoy!

I got him to come out by covering the top with a sump rock so no light at all got to him. I think my light was way too strong for him. I cut it by 50 percent. I will slowly bring it back up.

I just let them wander and do their thing until they’re happy. Hide, live on the glass, etc. They settle down after a while.

I would caution against adjusting lights to new livestock, as you’re ultimately stressing the entire system, vs just the new addition.
If you’re worried about a new coral you can start them off low, and raise them up in the tank over time.
Anemones have feet for a reason, it’s so they can move if they feel the need.

That’s a gorgeous bubble tip!
I’m a real sucker for them myself.

Best of luck!

Thanks a lot Ergo! He is a good looking one, the LFS had a few of these larger ones for 100 bucks but I talked them down to 75. Still pricey but not bad for one in such good shape with good color. That is why I was ticked he hid. He is working his way out now. I only have a few corals in there now. The Prime HD has an acclimation setting that will slowly bring it back up over the next three weeks so I think everyone will be ok. I want him to get settled before I put any larger corals in so I know where he might, "might", be happy.

I just let it be. That was my third nem. The first decided it wanted to move around and detach itself and run through a powerhead. So just like everyone mentioned above. Just watch it but it will come out eventually I promise. It won’t kill itself

That’s what I’m saying! Mom is pictured at 7” and has 2 clones! I didn’t sign up for this. [emoji23]
-Zack, who needs to start selling.
I can't find one of those around here. If you start selling let me know. Is that a rainbow I guess? Some guy around me said he had a supernova for sale but it looked like a rose with alot of blue and green.

That looks to me like a rose under blue light. That’s what mine looks like. But don’t quote me on that

A True rose under blue light looks like a slightly less vibrant Black widow Anemone to my understanding. I have 3 of them and possibly 2 for sale. Just shoot me a PM if your interested. One of them is pending I believe.

I just got this one about a week ago. I was told it was a black widow. He moved around the tank the first two nights. I’m not sure if it is truly a black widow or a rose but I love it. I don’t think it’s a good thing to feed them too much before they settle in. So I would hold off on the shrimp if I were you.
