Hey guys I picked up a frag of wolverine from Joe knows reefs. It is still brown after two weeks. Actually looks the same as wysiwyg pic. I know some of you have this coral. Any tips on placement and flow.

This piece was #1 on my list when it first came out, but I've never seen one in the US that looks like the ones below (original RR CA frags). Please let us know how it progresses!

There were 2 frags of RR Wolverine at MAX in LA and they looked like the picture above. It was Age of aquariums and lineages from RR Asia not RR USA

I picked up one of the RR Asia frags at MAX in LA (from Two Guys Corals, not AoA. In my opinion Two Guys Corals is the only good source for RR Asia corals). Paid the price to get a colored up frag that was guaranteed real-deal. It looks great in my tank, a bit more green than that yellow, but I think that is due to my water (yellows are tough to achieve in my system). Very red polyps on mine. Very purple base just like the pics above. It is a stunner.

I have it midway up a 24" deep tank, strong flow (theres a lot of flow in my tank), under an 8x39W ATI Powermodule. It seems to be loving life.

To be honest, it is a very tough coral. One of the other frags from MAX had flatworms found during my dip, so everything got an extra long dip and the offender was thrown out. Then they were dipped AGAIN in a strong dip a few days later and basted. This coral was clean, and went in the DT, and never even lost any color through all of the abuse. I think this one was worth the $$.

Toss me a pm if you have any questions, Ill try to get a pic.

Thanks guys. Lighting is 2x400w 20k radiums. Tank is 20 inches deep. Light hangs 9 inches from water. Frag is at the bottom of tank. I am starting to move it up so wanted to get ideas for placement.

Here is the picture from Joe's sale thread. It still looks the same. I want to try and color it up to the pictures. Maybe all you guys can help me with it.

I am keeping ours in moderate light with heavy flow and getting a great response. I purchased ours from Two Guys Corals as well. Not too many people have this coral and from my limited experience with it, it will definitely mature over time. One of my favorite things about it is the long single strand of a polyp that comes out when it is happy. I have ours in the 300 and it's difficult to get a camera over it due to the tank being in the wall, but I'll try to squeeze in the opening this weekend for an updated top down.

If you have any questions Sameer, I'll be glad to help. Feel free to PM me or call my cell that is posted on my banner in my signature :D

Thanks Joe, I think I will give it another month. I know some of these corals color up more as they age. Some require to be a lot mature to show their potential. I moved it mid way in tank and will monitor its progress.

I just wanted to see if other people who bought this coral were actually able to achieve coloration close to the RR pic.

I think a lot of corals need to become small colonies before the colors really develop, others are awesome as a 1" frag...I might need to find this one :D.

Nice. Joe has solid advice. Keep at it, keep things consistent, and give it some time.

Cheers!

I almost purchased a few of the acros from a local (SoCal) seller that had purchased some RR Asia pieces. I spoke with Tony from ReefRaft USA, and he told me that the RR Asia wolverine is nothing like the originally rr USA piece. The main reason I called him and asked him, was because the pictures didn't look the same to me.

Wondering what u guys think? Tony said they are just using the same name to help sell it.

Well, I don't want to upset anyone, but here is the picture from this thread from RR Canada (which means it probably came from RR Asia):

Here's Tony's picture from his for sale thread his sponsor forum here on R2R (from 2012 if I remember the time stamp right):

Here is one of the frags someone received from Tony's sale in that same thread (there's a bit more blue in this one, but I think you'll be able to see it's the same acro):

I definitely think these are all the same acro...I don't see how anyone could deny it.

Check out posts 3,4, and 5 of this thread. Looks like Age of Aquariums and Two Guys Corals have them for sure and Joe has one (Joe Knows Reefs).

This was the coral I was talking about. Said it's rr Asia wolverine. Maybe this is a different coral then the ones posted here, because it looks a lot different to me

I did check out the thread here on R2R that has some pics of RR USA Wolverine and mine looks like those, red polyps, blueish purple in some areas, yellowish/green on corallites.

It is tough with all the variations that these corals are bound to see tank to tank.

The reason I bought it was I like corals with dark polyps, and contrasting color corallites to the rest of the skin.

I think it may have to do with frag to colony transition too. If you look at the pic below from RR USA, the base is a bit greener and the arms are a bit more yellow.

It is clear that there wasn't one acro that was called the Wolverine that everyone is getting pieces from, so just like with SSC, there is now a "wolverine" that people are picking up.
