Okay so here it goes. My current tank was up and running when i first found R2R but I’ll try to back log some with what little pictures I have on this phone.
About 5 years ago, I inherited a 72 gallon bowfront FOWLR from my dad. He set it up for a snowflake eel and some other semi-aggressive fish.
I loved it. However, I didnt know much about saltwater tanks and I got all my advice from a local LFS guy. I ended up with a maroon clown serial killer that kept me from adding anything else to the tank. The tank went into standby mode and I started to neglect it. I didn’t get much joy out of it with the livestock I had. The clown finally died and I decided to learn a thing or two about stocking lists and the proper way to set up a tank. I started researching aquarium fish (temperment, minimum tank sizes, feeding habits, etc.). I decided that this time I was going to have a peaceful community.
In April of 2017, I was preparing to celebrate my 30th birthday and also finishing my Bachelors degree in nursing (second career). I had been talking to my dad about a LFS that was going out of business and having some sales on their tanks. I was trying to talk him into setting up another one for himself.
Well my parents called, they wanted to come over for dinner to celebrate my birthday. I knew something was up. They show up and who’s behind them but the LFS guy with a brand new tank in his truck. The tank that I had pointed out to my dad. A 100 gallon from Custom Aquariums. We ate fast because not only was the LFS guy delivering the tank but he intended to help me move everything over from my 72 gallon that night.
I had some pictures of the install but I deleted them somewhere along the way. This is it after I first got it running.
It came with a 4 bulb t5 fixture sitting inside the canopy, with 2 actinic and 2 bright white. The canopy and stand is made by Majestic Stands and Canopys out of Ohio. Sister company to Custom Aquariums, I believe.
I quickly changed that to 2 actinic, 1 blue plus and 1 coral plus as seen below.
