I've had FedEx drive by my house, never actually stop or get out of the truck. Claim nobody was home to accept package. To where I had to wait till that truck makes it back to their hub to go pickup my package so I didn't have to wait for them to supposedly try and deliver it the next day.

Address not found or accessible lol..same here. Or for freight they want an appointment but never send emails or call. I had a air dryer delayed 3 days and I ended up sending a guy to their plant just last week!!

FYI...When I go to the Cart page of the website. On my phone, can't see everything. Can't shrink or move the screen to see the total when holding the phone vertical. Didn't have this problem on other days of this sale.

So years ago, I started wfh more and needed multiple monitors, printer, etc and wanted a new desk for my office. For whatever reason, nothing at staples, office max, etc we’re jumping out to me
Randomly one night I’m on eBay and decide to browse desks.
I see one…a L desk with file cabinet and nice drawers, aluminum handles and knobs, and the entire desk - every part top bottom, drawer insides…everything is covered in hand stitched black Italian leather. The black leather and silver aluminum handles and legs and knockouts for wire pass throughs was exactly my style, and it was BIG, like 7x5.
I read the description and basically a high end furniture importer was closing a location and putting some stock on eBay for sale. They say it’s a $5000 desk hand made and imported from Italy.
Auction starts at 300$ + 200$ Sh
I call them the next day and it’s legit. They tell me the brand, I look it up, it’s all legit.
The store has one, and normally is $5000, I found it on another store website for $4,999 and it’s on eBay for a start price of $500 shipped.
I figure. Ok let’s go in with an auction sniper bid of 500 and see if I can snag this for $700 shipped. It’s got 2 days left
2 days later I win the desk for…300$ + 200 sh. I was the only bidder
I’m thrilled. This is insane. Awesome great. Send it over!
Well…I didn’t know that it ships on a pallet disassembled in tons of parts and pieces. And the FedEx freight shows up to my old house in middle of nowhere, and it can’t even make a u turn on my st and has to reverse up the road to get to my house.
Then, a pallet is lowered to the st and I go meet the driver and the issue is…he has a pallet Jack and I had a gravel driveway.
The pallet weighs over 150 lbs lol
And he wants to leave it in the st but is supposed to bring it to my porch. And he says he’s on a schedule and has to leave and I level with him and I’m like dude like at me. I’m a skinny dude and I’m by myself can ya please help me out here?
He’s like…yea let’s do it and we breakdown the pallet and load all the parts and carry the boxes together into my living room and I sign and he leaves. As he’s walking to his truck I see the largest box, I’m assuming one of the desk panels , the corner is bashed and I can see the leather of the desk corner is efffed up
I run to my front door and the truck is 2-3 houses away and driving away. I can’t flag him down.
I call FedEx and tell them it was just delivered and I explain what happened and they basically say I signed that it was ok and that releases them from responsibility. I read the fine print - I have 24 hours to report unseen damage. And I called in 5 min of delivery. My claim is started. Send them photos as is and they instruct me to open the box and take pictures of the actual damage.
I fill out the claim form - they don’t ask me how much I spent…they ask me what the value of the item is….so I put in…$5,000
The claim is denied. I have a chance to appeal. So I appeal and I want to know why it’s denied. They have no reason. Then they say they need to send out a “furniture specialist” to confirm value of the desk. Ok. So this dude is hired and comes to my house and he’s like wow…this is a nice desk. I tell him some details and he’s basically like due to the way it’s assembled and skinned in leather….it’s not repairable. And he writes up a report saying he agrees the desk is worth 5k, it’s extremely high quality and can’t be fixed
FedEx manager is on the phone with me a few days later and I can tell they are upset reading the report that was sent to us both. He wants a second opinion. Second dude shows up. Basically says same conclusion. Agrees on value and can’t be fixed.
Then FedEx wants me to get the manufacturer to send a just a replacement desktop piece. I contact the company that makes the desk, in Italy, and they say they don’t make it sell individual parts.
Then FedEx wants a certified letter from the manufacturer saying they won’t send the part. They comply and I get my letter
Then FedEx tells me…they want a receipt showing I paid 5k. Frig. Ummm ok
So I call the physical store of the eBay seller and am on the phone, they are aware of the situation and on my side, and I fill them in and say…will you give me a receipt showing I paid 5k for this desk….
The owner of the store pauses and says….sure no prob, I’ll write up a cash receipt and back date it and say you paid 5k out the door in cash. Holy crap he’s helping me out!
I send it to FedEx. The FedEx manager is furious and now he wants another letter saying how much the store thinks the damage is worth. So I call the store and send pics and say if this happened to you, how much would you sell it for? He says he would put it on the showroom for 50% off and sell for $2500. So he sends a letter explaining that.
The FedEx claim is then reduced to a $2500 damage claim…and denied. I appeal this and say I want to know why my claim was denied and I want the whole process started over and they broke my desk and are responsible. The claim is reopened…a week later I get a letter in the mail from FedEx. They want to settle. And offer me…$1000 to close the claim. I accepted, got my $1000 check, and in the end I got the desk for free + 500$
And the damaged corner…the desk just goes in a corner of the room and the damage can not be seen!
