I will agree. And this is a uncommon coral that most do not have experience with, and many have never heard of. There’s limited info out there on it. All commonly accepted dips are “bad dips” for it.

Would it react better to a 50% dilution? Who knows. Would that even be strong enough to help with whatever problem you have? Probably not

All I’m saying is it’s a sensitive coral. Easy generally to keep but if you come across an issue it’s very difficult to resolve and traditional methods may solve one issue but will cause others that take months to recover from
Been going back in the thread to look at things I skipped. Are you talking about the moseleya? I use different dips for different things. I think the SBB group steered me into KCl, but I also use api melafix. Sounds weird, but it is a good dip. Things wig out and it is gentle on the corals.

Ideally, for dinos, you want to pump from the display and back into the display. Use a nori clip with a piece of filter floss in it in a high flow area of the display. Turkey baste all surfaces before lights out. Rinse floss in the morning and then throw it back in thr tank for the day and repeat. Turkey baste during the day too. You can use the same floss for a few days. Carbon is good to run during all this as well as dinos can be toxic. You can also dose some silicate to make sure you have enough if you want.
I'm actually trying to figure out how I want to plumb my UV as well, wondering if I want to go closed loop or not.

Yea the moseleya.

The group did get me started on kcl, which I use for acros. I have not tried it on the Moseleya. It never has pests though

Well. I’m sure most of you are asleep, but I see a few regulars watching the thread!

It’s been 16 hours but I have made the tank transfer! Everything is looking very good and happy! Still need to do a few finishing touches (a facade to hide the lights and filters and hook up my dosing and ATO, and do some cable management, but it’s up and running.

Here’s a pic if the final product, let me know your thoughts!

Also thought I’d share my silt stopper 1.0

It didn’t quite work so I made version 2.0

Biggest delay was waiting for all the water from my LFS to come to temp. He keeps his water tank at 70 degrees apparently.

Long day. Hope everything is still good in the morning!

I need details. Transfer from what to what. I’m about to do this and would love input.

I need details. Transfer from what to what. I’m about to do this and would love input.
Transfer from a 60g mixed reef to a 125g mixed reef. Also broke down my 36g tank and added the fish and corals and rock from that tank to this one. Also stole all the filtration and lighting from that tank. So i now have some redundancy. Two skimmers two heaters more powerheads two feeders etc….

As far as details, I will do a build thread soon but the down and dirty.

I got new live sand and rinsed it thoroughly in buckets with tap water to remove as much silt as possible. Then I rinsed with RO Water then with salt water.

Added the new sand to the tank which was next to my old tank.

I siphoned water from my tank into all my Rubbermaid bins.

I very carefully removed all my coral that was on frag plugs to a shallow Rubbermaid and then my corals that were encrusted and bigger I put in a large Rubbermaid again super carefully.

I then removed my BTA’s on rocks and put them in a separate Rubbermaid

I then removed the rest of my live rock and put it in the last Rubbermaid.

I siphoned a bit more water into buckets leaving about three inches of water in my old tank with my old nasty sand.

Fish were netted and added to the various buckets.

Now I could slide my old tank out and then slide the new tank in and level it. Fortunately my floor was level so that was easy. Measured my walk clearance because that thing isn’t budging anytime soon.

I don’t make my own saltwater. So I had 25 gallons of water from my LFS ready to go. Started filling the new tank very slowly with siphon hose.

As soon as there was enough water in it I put two heaters in it and a powerhead with filter pads rubberbanded around it to start warming and settling the water.

I had to make two more trips to the LFS for water for a total of 75g of new water.

I had some airstones and heaters in my buckets but I did feel it was hard to regulate the temp in those small volumes without much movement. I ended up pulling the heaters and putting them in the new tank to help the water heat faster. 70 degrees up to 78 took a few hours.

My house was 74 degrees so I wasn’t too worried about the temp dropping but it did and that 4 degrees felt like a lot. This was the biggest mistake I think I made. Definitely find a way to keep your buckets heated. Maybe I will heat the house to 78 next time. Yuck.

Once the water started to clear and I had lights up to help see I started placing my rock. I. Don’t glue my rock scape I just wedge it all together so that helps make it easier.

I then added rocks with coral attached and made BTA island. I added fish and inverts as I found them.

Finally time for my sticks. I did some water swapping between my rubber maid and the tank over about an hour to help them adjust to any changes. I then started placing them one by one.

Once I was done with the totes I used a gallon pitcher to use that water to help finish off filling the tank, leaving the last inch or two to keep detritus out.

After that hooking it all up and cleaning out the old tank (still needs to be done but I got the sand out and got it in the garage. So all in all a crazy busy day going non stop but made it through!

I sized my UV to just handle the return from the sump to the display on my new tank.

On my nano I ran silicone tubing from my return pump to the UV and back to the return nozzle in the tank.

I bet that makes you feel accomplished!

I'm about to move from a 100L nano to a ~378L lagoon and have a couple general questions for anyone that would like to opine.

1. Did you consider trying to dip everything you transferred? I have red planaria - unsightly but not horrible. I was thinking of doing a FlatwormExit dip on everything as part of the transfer process.

2. I have a few algae grazers - I don't plan on transferring my rock - just feed them or make a point of leaving some algae around on a frag rack and plugs or something?

3. Anything you think people miss often?

Congrats on your successful move. I'm lucky enough to have had the room to slide my nano over and place the larger tank where it's going to live and build it out.

Morning !
Good morning!
