Hey guys,

mom thinking these are sponges, but I just want to make sure. They’re starting to take over my tank and I’m not sure if I like them or not....

Yep sponges, nice ones too. They don't really take over a tank unless you dose silicates or your source water is high in them. Usually they come and go and are somewhat beneficial as they keep diatoms at bay.

It’s like they’re growing bigger by the hour!!! I’m not 100% against them, I just don’t like the way they look necessarily. I understand and appreciate their purpose and the benefit they can bring the tank, but visit ally they’re not my favorite.
I’ve read flow can knock them out? I’m about to get some gyres in my tank so maybe that’ll keep them at bay... I made the mistake of messing with one with my tongs and it’s gotten “worse” since then.

You can scrape them off during a water change and suck them out of the tank as you do so. Should put a huge dent in their numbers if you really want them gone.

I currently have a few and find them to be a cool colorful addition
