Hello,

There are threads in the archive with pictures of tanks under various halide bulbs, however, many of those bulbs are no longer in production. I thought it may be helpful to see what some of the currently available bulbs look like. So here are pictures of the 250 watt Aqua Bright line, as well as 250 watt Marine Color 10K and 14K bulbs over my 75 gallon reef tank.

I hope these are helpful to anyone who wants to run Halides.

Thanks!

That green MC10k. wow. Gonna guess that one was from some other industry/application and never designed for reef lighting.

I wonder if that's not a defective bulb.
As to "other" applications..

Don't recall any CCT (K temp) listed. Nor as a mogul base.

There are two separate 250 watt bulbs in each picture, so if the Marine Color 10k is defective, both bulbs have the same color.

I am not pleased with the Marine Color 10k bulbs, as they are far more yellow than some really old Iwasaki 6500k bulbs I still had around the house. The 14k ones I have been impressed with though.

so is that how it looks to the eyeball? sort of washed out and yellow? - Or is it more like the green of the camera image?

I would say it looks much less green to the eye, but way more yellow than other 10k bulbs.
