I've always wanted to visit the shop but I live on the other coast. Thanks for posting your findings. I am not in the market for these but I am sure there are a few people who are.

Beautiful!
I got mine from PEA came in perfect condition.
Not surprised...these all looked perfect ..he said they were all tight mouthed and sticking to the shipping bags when they came in..and a couple days in that greenhouse with sunlight and pellet food ..and they were good to go...I normally treat EVERYTHING regardless -but they all looked amazing...caution to the wind ..

Makes me want to try 2 different Mags but I don't want one to die from chemical warfare.

Here's mine

NOT likely ...I've seen and kept multiple mags in one tank before...they are colonial in nature
This is not completely true. Some mags are solitary, while others are colonial. Clones get along with one another--since they're essentially the same anemone--but those from different colonies or are solitary may not get along with each other. Like BTAs, where some color morphs don't play nice with each other, we've anecdotally seen this happen with magnifica. The most typical outcome is that one or more mags get larger, while the others get smaller and slowly wither away no matter how much they're fed.

Remember I mentioned that my partner in Ha'Apai said that he can get carpets. He found some and sent me this Pic. What do you think?

Maybe ask them to send you 1or 2 in your next shipment ? Merten's probably wont sell out as fast as Gigs would ? if ? that's what they are ...

well ..go to PEA one day when he's got about 30-50 of em in there and lmk what u think then ..They can NOT all be clones of each other -yet you'll see them all clustered up together in his greenhouse vats......

Great looking mags!

You mentioned "feeding pellets" in a previous post. Just curious what pellets he feeds mags? I always feed pieces of seafood. But curious about brands of pellets mags are partial to.

The process is extremely slow (which is why I said "slowly wither away"). I often tell people to take photos of their tanks and then periodically look at them to compare how it used to look versus how it looks now, and they'll oftentimes see their mags (and/or gigs or BTAs or haddoni) get smaller.

Since I assume PEA holds their mags for only a few days/weeks, there probably won't be immediate signs of alleopathy (assuming that's what happening).

I'm also not saying that this happens every time. I have a purple/blue tips and mauve/green tips on the same rock, touching one another and they're about the same size. We'll see how long it lasts.

Assuming they are mertens, the reduced popularity is from size, color, or some drawback I’m missing?

I haven't fed my pellets but mine do eat large pieces of freeze dried krill.
