Hi guys,

Seeking help here.

Bought an amazing golden torch 20 days ago.

Same torch, 20 days later, same spectrum, same lens:

That golden pop is not there anymore leading to a brownish look.

Water parameters:

S: 1025
T: 78 F
Alk: 7.8/8.2dkh
CA: 430-450ppm
Mg: 1400-1450ppm
No3: 10-15ppm
Po4: 0.06-0.15

Any ideas?

Thank you!

I am currently with a Radion G6 blue on Lps/Soft settings at 36% intensity. If I go over, it's too strong. I am raising 1% per week.

Haven't check my Par.

XR15 lights are the weakest lights. 36% is nothing. I run my gen 6 at 100% intensity on A B plus setting to barely get decent par around the tank. This is why your torch is browning out.

Umh... I have a 30g tank. It's small!

If I raise intensity I get algae!

I have a 65g tank with 2 lights so basically double your tank size. Your par numbers are ridiculously low and your corals will slowly die off as evidenced by your torch losing color. But good luck, let us know how that low light works out for you.

I am just trying to understand eh... What would you suggest? Considering I don't have a PAR meter. Can I do more then 1% increase a week?

I was running my lights at 70% and was shocked how low the par was when i used a par meter to check. I increased 1% per day until I hit 100% and my corals thrive huge now.

Algae and corals need the same things to grow, so if the lights are too low to grow algae, they are also too low to support corals.

Green algae is mainly caused by excessive organics in the water. This article will explain a lot about it.
