Hi all,

I have a zoa garden that’s growing out of control, so I’d like to prune it back. Is there a best practice to do so? I don’t want to frag anything and sell polyps, just make more space. My concern is toxins being released when I cut them as the rock they’re on is attached, therefore the pruning will occur inside the full tank.

Cheers.

I’ve snipped zoas straight off of a rock with no ill effect. If you can take it out of the tank to do it, great. Just make sure you’re cutting AWAY from yourself and angle it down into a bucket or something. They can spit some liquid that you don’t want in your eyes, mouth, or on your skin.
