Using reef putty in the tank?

Was doing a water change and hit one of the late additions of rock and it moved on me. Can I reef putty it now that the tanks been up 6 months or leave it?

I would add an airstone,,, if you use a lot of putty, it lowers the oxygen content in the water. I have heard stories of people using an entire stick or more and then waking up to dead fish.

ok...i was just thinking of a small dab to hold it
